HOUSTON – John H. Kim, founder of The Kim Law Firm, has been selected Texas Trial Lawyer of the Year for 2018 by the Texas chapters of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
The annual honor is reserved exclusively for the most respected ABOTA lawyers who demonstrate high ethical standards and make active contributions to the organization. Mr. Kim, a frequently honored commercial litigator, was nominated for Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Houston chapter and selected by the organization’s board of directors.
Since joining the organization in 2002, Mr. Kim has worked vigorously with ABOTA to promote its values and its support for a fair U.S. civil justice system and the right to a jury trial for all Americans.

Last year, Mr. Kim began a three-year term as a national Fellow of the ABOTA Foundation, a highly selective body to which he was elected. He has repeatedly served on the ABOTA National Trial College faculty. He served as Houston chapter president in 2012.
Mr. Kim, known for his courtroom mastery, represents businesses and individuals in a variety of complex disputes, including many involving energy companies. In addition, he has tried pharmaceutical, product liability and catastrophic injury and death cases.
Recognized on the Texas Super Lawyers list since its inception in 2003, he has repeatedly been named to the Top 100 lawyers in Houston. His outstanding trial work has earned him notice as a Benchmark Litigation Star every year since 2013. Mr. Kim is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Personal Injury Trial Law.
