HOUSTON – Once again Houston lawyer John H. Kim has been recognized by the national peer-review lawyers guide Benchmark Litigation as a national Litigation Star, and the law firm he founded is listed among those recommended.
Mr. Kim, founder of The Kim Law Firm, is making his fifth appearance in Benchmark, one of many ranking services to recognize his excellence in the courtroom on behalf of major companies and individuals involved in complex litigation.
Benchmark Litigation conducts extensive interviews with trial lawyers and their clients to identify the leading attorneys and firms. Researchers examine recent casework and ask lawyers in the region to offer their professional opinions of candidates.
For its 2018 listing, Benchmark quoted one lawyer who assessed Kim this way: “John Kim is a fine lawyer. He is very strong in connecting with juries.” Another attorney said that while Kim “grew up as a plaintiff lawyer,” he has a diversified practice and is “a good courtroom lawyer in general” and “very entrepreneurial.” In fact, Mr. Kim recently won a $100 million jury verdict in an oil and gas accounting case. It was the largest verdict of its type in the Texas jurisdiction where the case was tried.
Among other honors earned by Mr. Kim are his recognition by The Best Lawyers in America from 2016 to 2018 and his appearance on Thomson Reuters’ Texas Super Lawyers list each year since 2003. He has been selected to Super Lawyers’ Top 100 lawyers in Houston since 2012.
Mr. Kim is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. This year he begins a three-year term as a national trustee of the elite American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) Foundation, which works to preserve equal justice for all Americans. He has twice served on the faculty of the ABOTA National Trial College at Harvard and also is past president of ABOTA’s Houston chapter.
