HOUSTON – The Kim Law Firm attorneys Denise H. Kim and Heather R. Potts have been selected for the 2015 Texas Rising Stars list of the state’s up-and-coming young lawyers.
Published by Thomson Reuters’ legal division, Texas Rising Stars honors the state’s top attorneys age 40 or younger, or those who have practiced law for no more than 10 years. Only 2.5 percent of eligible attorneys make the exclusive list each year.
Ms. Kim, a civil trial lawyer focused on complex business disputes, was selected for her work in civil litigation defense. It is her second year to make the Rising Stars list.
Ms. Potts, a commercial litigator with extensive experience representing debtors, creditors and trustees, was chosen based on her track record handling business bankruptcy cases. This is her fourth consecutive year on the Rising Stars list.

Ms. Kim’s litigation work includes cases involving construction defects, professional responsibility for financial professionals, products liability, insurance coverage and defense, breach of contract, trade secrets claims, oil and gas matters, and legal malpractice defense. She has earned a 100 percent dismissal rate in defending State Bar of Texas grievances for many prominent attorneys.
Ms. Potts has litigated bankruptcy plan confirmation, exemption disputes, objections to discharge, avoidance of preferential and fraudulent transfers, and has secured approval of complex estate property sales. Beyond bankruptcy, she also has represented clients in complex business disputes in both state and federal courts. Her appellate experience includes successful oral arguments before the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.
