HOUSTON – Houston attorney John H. Kim, founder of The Kim Law Firm, was elected as a national trustee on the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) Foundation.

Mr. Kim was one of only two lawyers elected by the national Fellows of the Foundation for a three-year term beginning 2017. The mission of the ABOTA Foundation is to preserve the constitutional vision of equal justice for all Americans and to preserve the U.S. civil justice system for future generations. Trustees promise to help educate Americans about the right to trial by jury and to elevate the standards of legal professionalism.

“ABOTA and the foundation’s work have never been more important,” Mr. Kim said. “Government budget constraints and legislative erosion of the legal system make our goals even more crucial. I am committed as a trustee to keep our focus on youth education, professionalism and civility and to ensure participation in our civil courts.”

Mr. Kim has been promoting ABOTA goals since 2002. He has repeatedly served on the ABOTA National Trial College faculty and has served on the organization’s national board. He also served as president of the Houston chapter in 2012 and was a TEX-ABOTA Foundation liaison.

He has been selected one of the Top 100 attorneys in Houston by Texas Super Lawyers since 2013 and was listed by that group among the Top 100 lawyers in Texas in 2015. He has been named a Benchmark Litigation Star each year since 2013 for accomplishments in general commercial litigation cases, as well as personal injury and product liability claims. Mr. Kim is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Personal Injury Trial Law.
